Healthy Tomatoes Full of Carotenoids and Lycopene!

Tomatoes are Tops for Health!

Tomatoes are such a great combination of Super Hero Health Food, good taste, and versatility!  They deserve a top ranking on the Superfoods List.


Packed full of carotenoids, tomatoes have:

  • alpha-carotene
  • beta-carotene
  • lutein
  • lycopene
  • phytoene
  • phytofluene

All of these are good for your health, but lycopene is really blue ribbon material. It’s reported to reduce rates of cancer, especially prostate cancer. Combined with the lutein, it also helps prevent macular degeneration.

Keep in mind that although uncooked tomatoes have higher over-all levels of carotenoids, lycopene in cooked tomatoes is more readily absorbed by the body.
