Review of Joy Bauer’s Food Cures Book

Life rushes by us sometimes.  I’ve had this book, “Joy Bauer’s Food Cures” for months now, with the intention of writing a review.  When I first got it, however, there were a couple of family crisis-type situations, and it got put on the back-burner.  I happened to come across the book again a few days ago, so decided to read through it once more and get the review written!

Food For Health

First off, by now you probably know that eating the right foods can help your health. 

After all, if you are what you eat… and you really are…. then what you eat sure makes a difference. It’s a lot like if you tried putting sugar-water in your car instead of gasoline. It wouldn’t run very well, would it?

Our cells need the right fuel too.  And if they don’t get it, we’re liable to become sick.

The Right Foods For Health Problems

Joy Bauer’s Food Cures book is about eating the right foods to help various medical problems, including:

  • overweight
  • arthritis
  • diabetes
  • migraines
  • heart disease
  • and more.

A lot of research went into this book.  It includes information about the disease, important things to do to help the problem, and what foods are good to eat when you have that particular medical condition.

There is also information on vitamins, minerals and supplements that are recommended.

I guess I would call the information in this book “Cutting Edge Mainstream.”  For people who are not familiar with alternative health, and the importance of certain foods for your health, then this would probably be new stuff.  If you’re a long time health food enthusiast, however, this will be solid information but probably not seem so cutting edge to you.

It’s a good basic primer, and a good overview book to have on your bookshelf.
