Easiest Way To Make Energy Rich Green Smoothies
Make Those Green Smoothies FAST!
You’re in a rush in the morning, but want a healthy jump-start to your day. A green smoothie is a healthy, refreshing drink, and a great way to boost your energy in the morning or any time of day. And if you don’t like to eat vegetables, it’s a great way to get some nutritious greens in your diet.
But it seems to take a long time to get the job done. So how do you go about making it easier to make your smoothies? And are they the best drink, or should you go for juice?
Blending Smoothies vs. Juicing
There are some people who advocate getting your greens in a juice. This makes for a highly concentrated drink, best imbibed in sparingly. You can have too much of a good thing! The oxalates and other stuff in greens can be too strong if you drink a bunch of this juice all the time.
The other downside to juice is the lack of fiber. From the Mayo Clinic:
Juicing probably is not any healthier than eating whole fruits and vegetables. Juicing extracts the juice from fresh fruits or vegetables. The resulting liquid contains most of the vitamins, minerals and plant chemicals (phytonutrients) found in the whole fruit. However, whole fruits and vegetables also have healthy fiber, which is lost during most juicing.
With a smoothie, you can use the entire leaf of the greens in your drink, or other vegetables and fruits. When the food is pulverized, you get all that fiber along with the other good nutrients.
And if you read anything about health, I’m sure you’ve heard that fiber is a good thing! We all want to feel good, have lots of energy, and keep that digestive system moving as well.
Smoothie Prep Made Easy
Green smoothies are great, but can be a bit of a pain to make. One may to speed up the process in the morning is get all your ingredients ready the night before. You can make your smoothie using a regular blender, but some of them just don’t have the power to really pulverize and make a smooth, palatable drink out of all those greens.
Beyond Making Smoothies
What’s more, it is highly versatile. It can not only make great green smoothies (or any other kind), and get all the greens chopped up nice and silky, it can make….
- Hot Soups in 4-6 minutes
- Homemade Pudding
- Salad Dressings
- Fruit Syrups
- Ice Cream
Yes, the same appliance can make a hot soup or pudding, or make frozen ice cream!
My personal favorite is making homemade pudding with a Vitamix. The flavor is much better than a mix, you can use pure ingredients, and also control the amount of sugar and salt in the pudding. You’d be surprised how much salt is in pudding mix.
With the addition of a dry blade container, you can also grind small amounts of grains into flours, make cracked grains for cereals, grind coffee beans, or even grind some herbs and spices.
Back to Smoothies
Besides smoothies, you can also make vegetable juices with a Vitamix. Juices made in a Vitamix have an important difference: you can add whole vegetables or fruits which not only keeps the fiber intact, but also any vitamins and minerals that are prone to hide right under the skin of such things as apples.
In a way, juices made with a Vitamix are just a more liquid version of smoothies.
With both juices and smoothies, keep in mind that fruits are full of natural sugars, so a little bit can go a long way. Go more for the greens!!
Want To Make Your Own Smoothies The Easy Way?
While you certainly can make smoothies in cheap blenders, it’s much easier to use a Vitamix. The powerful motor does a great job. The cheap blenders are, well, cheap! Sometimes they have trouble getting the job done. But a Vitamix is a great investment for not only making green smoothies, but all kinds of healthy food.
Vitamix says “The world’s most durable blender is backed by a full warranty—covering all parts, labor, and two-way shipping at no cost to you.”
Just get your own, leave it in an easily accessible place on your kitchen counter, and make your green smoothies with ease!
