Blueberries – A Super Hero Health Food

Blueberries Superfood

If you’re looking for an easy boost towards healthier eating, add one of the super high-powered health foods to your diet.
BAM!
Faster than a speeding bullet, these kinds of foods contain disease fighting phytonutrients (phyto = plant).  They generally also have vitamins, minerals and fatty acids needed for good health.

Topping the list of super foods are BLUEBERRIES. Think blueberries antioxidants, because they contain more antioxidants than any other common fruit, and have lots of vitamins C and E.

Blueberries are full of anthocyanins, a phytonutrient that gives the blueberry its’ distinctive color, and ellagic acid. They’re a unique combination that works together to maximize the benefits of each other.

These phytonutrients act as powerful antioxidants that pack a punch against heart disease, cancer and even the aging process. They also act to reduce inflammation that can lead to heart disease, eye disease and cancer. Plus they help boost the immune system to ward off infection.

Research indicates blueberries can improve mental performance, reduce rates of urinary tract infections, and have general anti-inflammatory affects.

Eating one to two cups of fresh or frozen blueberries daily will provide the optimum benefits.

If you want an occasional change of pace, try some of these Super Hero Sidekicks.  They have a lot of the same properties as blueberries:

  • blackberries
  • boysenberries
  • cherries
  • cranberries
  • raspberries
  • red grapes
  • strawberries

They aren’t quite as high-powered as blueberries, but still pack a pretty good punch for health.

So munch up on those blueberries, they’re a SUPER HERO of Health Foods!  A top-ranking member of the Superfoods List!
